Michelle Siu is a documentary photographer and freelance photojournalist based in Toronto. As a daughter of Chinese immigrants to Canada, she is drawn to human rights stories which affect vulnerable people and disenfranchised cultures. Her work has been published in The New York Times, Time.com, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Discovery Channel and Der Spiegel among others. She has won numerous awards including the Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award, the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward Emerging Photographer Competition and several National Picture of The Year Awards.
